Good posture isn’t just about looking slimmer, healthier, more confident and more capable – although it gives you all these benefits too. Improving your posture can also improve the way your brain functions; Improves your hormone balance; it improves your digestion and metabolism; it improves the health of all your internal organs – and it can improve your sex drive.
If your shoulders are rounded you can’t fill your lungs properly leading to shorter weaker breaths. Shorter breaths increase blood pressure and heart rate, this not only strains the circulation system leading to stroke and heart attack – it also puts your mind into a stress setting so you can’t think as clearly and logically as you can when feeling more relaxed and in control.
Poor posture reduces the removal of carbon dioxide from the body and reduces the amount of oxygen getting in so all the organs (and brain) become starved of vital oxygen. The brain and other organs do not funtion optimally with reduced oxygen intake.
Additionally – the low oxygen levels put your body in a ‘fight or flight’ reaction – the body is in survival mode. In survival mode digestion slows down leading to heart burn, bloating and discomfort – and sex drive is reduced (no need to reproduce when your life is in danger).
If your stomach protrudes forward and your low back is arched, it is unlikely you are using the abdominal muscles to breathe as nature intended – from your diaphragm. If you only breathe into the upper part of your lungs, your internal organs are not getting the vital massage effect they should receive from correct breathing. Stale blood collects in the bottom of the organs and the whole bodies systems become sluggish and lethargic.
Think better and feel better by learning and mastering good posture.
